I don't know how to start this, but oh well.

Awkward intro shall be awkward.

It has been 2 years since i've been working as an engineer.

Honestly, it's not easy, but it's not hard either.

It's not easy because it's a lot like law maybe. Banyak refer old documents, spec sheets, catalogues, emails, minutes of meetings, old project docs, just so that whatever project the team's doing, takde kena backfire ke salah order barang ke blablabla.

It's not hard because it's something familiar. Like using autocad, procedures. And errrr... For now itu je i boleh come up with. Gosh, noob nya.

Earlier this year, i applied for masters program and i thought i wouldn't get it. Coz i kinda applied late..

I was accepted to UPM's master program in engineering management. alhamdulillah =)

Takde la pape sangat. Mula mula thought of doing research program, but i was very intrigued by the course subjects. Ada business related courses tu, i loike. Hehe!

So anyway, alhamdulillah, i am now a working student.

It has been a month since, and my routine changed drastically. What with four classes a week, after work, i go to class, after 3 hours of learning, some days i ada class rohaniah, some days i balik terus. Other non-class days, i ada tuition class and class class lain gak. oh, and my other part time jobs. like modelling, giving talks and stuff..

Most of the time i will have dinner in the car.

Either tapau siap2 from home, or buy burger kat tepi jalan, or buy snacks from petrol station.

And most days i reach home very late. So yeah.

Sometimes after work, i get really tired and in class, i admit, it's not easy to stay focused. Many times i have to force myself out of my stupor by conteng sana sini, gi toilet jap, and good thing classes ada breaks for maghrib prayer! Helps a lot, that does. Sometimes i wonder how my classmates yang working pun can stay focused in class.. Hope i can be like them soon!!

But then, there are some nights when even after a long day of work + studying + learning, my brain still nak active. which i see as something good la. gives me time to read my books =)

It's a challenge, for now.

But in sha Allah, i will get used to this new routine. Because as usual, all new things will someday be a normal thing and we'll look back and wondered "eh, aku dah ok dah? Bila aku ok ek?" Hehe!

Im not sure why but i suspect it's because i have more untold stories which i just need to blurt somewhere. And le peliks is the best place for blurting out =p

At first i didnt want to blog about this pun. Didn't think it would interest anyone pun what goes on in my personal life. As long as i tau, dah la kan.

Because i met two girls at campus, and they asked me why i didnt tell ppl about it, and because im too lazy to answer the same questions over and over again. Might as well make it official.

Masjid, Y U NO WOMEN FRIENDLY?

ok, i'm going straight to the point.

Masjids in Malaysia are, masyAllah, beautiful!

i've been to Istanbul and seen their majestic mosques, but the unique thing about Malaysia's mosques, is that every mosques have their own identity.

alhamdulillah, i've had opportunities to pray in some mosques. ye la dah duduk bujang, sometimes on the way back from meeting or whatever, i'll just go to the nearest masjid to pray since i have nothing to rush home for.

don't get me wrong (due to the title), i love going to mosques!

it feels amazing to pray in a jemaah.

but i just don't get how they're quite unfriendly towards women. i don't mean the mosque itself, but the architecture of it.

i went to this one mosque, and tempat ambil wudhu for women is further than mens'!

i went to a this other mosque, and guess what, tempat wudhu is outside, and it doesn't have a door! just a shower curtain which starts from the knee up. lagi best kan, TEMPAT WUDHU PEREMPUAN IS EXPOSED TO THE MEN'S PRAYING AREA!

you get that?

the tap is at waist height, so i thought "takkan nak cangkung amik wudhu? kalau diri, nak kena angkat kain tinggi-tinggi.. kalau cangkung, silap silap my tudung slipped and then gelabah pastu habis basah baju.. kalau laki lalu kat luar.. &*(&$*()" 

what i did then, i angle kan my body (konon so that men won't be able to see my exposed arm, hair and ears) and sacrificed my kain when washing my feet. i was on the way to a wedding. huhu.. 

and then sarung tudung basah basah and lari terkedek kedek into the prayer area. i think it was a good 2 meters kot. 

at first i thought "takpe la.. redha la.. maybe this is a test for all women"

but now, i think it's not right.

this is not a test made by Allah SWT. this is the problem with architects or contractors or engineers who did not take women's comfort into consideration.

apart from tempat wudhu being a tad bit far from the prayer area, i have been in masjids that provide a really small confined space for women to change!

some women have to change into telekungs.

some have to wear their hijab.

some women have the habit of taking of their pants or skirts when wearing the telekung.

some have to wear makeup after praying. (maybe ada event?)

imagine.

if there are 50 women in the mosques, and all they have is a 4ft by 6ft area to change and stuff.

it's uncomfortable.

also, a few times i've seen mothers with their young children sit outside by the road coz there's no proper waiting area for them. i know some of them don't wanna go inside the mosque because they don't want their kids to disturb the jemaah's concentration. 

not all mosques though. some je la yang takde area for mothers and children.

think about it. 

whenever there's a majlis ilmu, whether it be in a hall or masjid, paid or free, women have always dominated the majlis.

then why won't the masjid architects take women into consideration?

is it really hard to extend the water piping to a place nearer to the prayer area?

is it difficult too to build a proper room for women to change?

im no architect or civil engineer, but im imagining a linked closed hall from the wudhu' room to the prayer area for women.

i don't know if it's feasible but i am positive that there are ways to make women feel comfortable taking ablution, change and setting off to pray.

come on la. dah how many years dah ada women pergi masjid, takkan la still takde orang sedar? dah berapa tahun dah we acknowledge Malaysia as a muslim country and still you cannot remember ada women beragama islam kah? orang duk bising pasal women tak jaga aurat, tapi masjid pun dibina without making it easier for us. how?

so, you future masjid architects, TOLONG LA. make it more women friendly!! family friendly! 

boleh kan? kan? KAN?

glad i got this out of my chest. im hoping to see some improvement. old masjids yang tak consider women, can start doing something about it. probably longer shower curtains, or a door.

please try to cover the ablution area, not just leave it exposed.

help us cover our aurat, please =')

Pulau Perhentian! woohoo!

my friends and i went to perhentian island over a weekend. can you believe it.. we actually drove the whole way, to and fro!! we didn't expect the drive to take us about THE WHOLE DAY!

sebab jam, sempat sesat, and multiple bladders yang cannot synchronise. sikit sikit, stop. hahaha!

girls.. motip sangat!

i was the first driver of one of the cars, and i drove for solid 8 hours. memang terasa gangsta gila tau. haha! nasib i had really good company! my girls kept me awake and we just had fun talking and laughing in the car =) and they took turns sleeping too. sorang dah habis drool, sorang lagi sambung. so ada drooling beregu la. teamwork FTW!

and that's why peeps, it's really really important to have good company to go with you on a holiday! #tips

1. bring waterproof bags to put your expensive gadgets. once jatuh dalam air, considered padan muka. 

2. don't bring big bags. susah mau carry dalam sand. terbenam dalam sand juga ada, maka bermuscle la anda nanti. eh, macam bagus lak kan... ok, bring big bags to have more clothes (in case) while building up muscles. myahahahaha! =p

i always wanted to know what it feels like to wear jubah while strolling at the beach. it didn't feel any different than wearing a dress, to be honest. tapi saje jeeeeeeee.

by the way, we stayed at a chalet, which i won't say here sebab nanti uolls will marah i. lebih baik uolls cari sendiri and puas hati sendiri. coz ours, it was quite last minute, see. so...... yeah. what can you expect from a last minute arrangement? right. =)

but that's how we roll! hahaha!

we had awesome fun though! alhamdulillah we got to see loads of beautiful creatures and amazing views, and alhamdulillah we arrived home safely. =)

actually, this was the first time i went to the beach as a hijaber. since 2010!

gangsta gila. 

so it was kind of a struggle for me. to find the right clothes, the right shawls, etc.

the struggle to keep the shawl on when swimming, the struggle to make the clothes not fit to the body the minute i got out of the water, and at one point, i actually had the urge to take off my shawl! coz it was too much of a hassle sampai i rasa nak give up. tapi it was momentous, alhamdulillah! biasalah perempuan. bila emo tu, iman pun boleh goyah. pfft! geram with myself.

at least from this experience, i think i know how to prepare for a beach vacation. maybe should make separate post for that kalau ada orang nak. ahak!

i wish we could stay longer in perhentian.. the place is BEAUTIFUUUUULLLLLL!!!

alas, work called, reality called, mom called, everything called from the besut jeti. kita pun kena la menjawab call mereka dan terus pulang ke pangkalan damansara..

i have been working as an engineer ni for almost two years and i think i hardly ever talk about it.
sedih.
bukan apa, i blame the media.

kalau ada pun, tak melekat kat people's minds to know what engineers do. coz we all know what doctors do, what teachers do, what happens in glee clubs and hair salons, but really, apa sangat yang orang tau pasal engineers?

kalau buat satu project, tak kisah la rumah ke, building ke, toilet ke, train station ke, fittings mesti ada. fittings ni diumpamakan as penyambung. Fit-Tings. It Fits. eh macam potential nama kedai je. ahak!

i dulu awal-awal kerja selalu gila pergi hardware store to stock up these fittings. so i almost kinda memorised all the fittings that are commonly used. like these two!

oh, by the way, now that we are aware of the existence of fittings, kalau boss you tengok kat purchase orders and ask

"whose nipple is this??? 1 and a half inch??"

it's only early of the year 2012 and thus my second time going to melaka. i just love it there coz it's just different and fun! different in a sense that it's not as busy as KL, not congested, so cultural and colourful, never boring, and cendol dia best. hehe! though, i miss ipoh's cendol very much.. and nasi vanggey.. roti bakar telur manis.. dengggg!! rasa macam nak gi ipoh lak!! and maybe pay a visit to my darling universiti di toronto. ahakk!!

anyway, this time i went with these awesome girls, my sisters whom i work with. =)

they're really are the best! 

kalau you all nak tau, our workplace are 70% dominated by men. so, being surrounded by guys really takes the femininity out of a girl.. that's why we girls stick together!!! RAHWWWWRRRR! ok tibe tibe nak semangat lebih. motip?

ingenieur life

lately i've been quite stressed out with my life.

i haven't been eating nor sleeping right.
after work, i think about work, when i sleep, i worry about work, when i wake up the next day, i'm afraid to go to work.
all this constant thinking and worrying is because of my projects which i'm leading and i as the youngest engineer to do so, i lack knowledge, experience and sadly respect.

i've been running around the factory, trying to get things done, driving around to places to find parts which are always 'urgent' and at the same time, making sure that everything in the office is under control. nak buat process engineering and being a project leader at the same time is not as easy as i thought..

and to top things up, recently i just learnt something about myself that i'm not proud of.
and i have to thank my cousin for that. =)
we're so aware about the faults of people around us (whether we know them personally or not) but honestly, how aware are we about our own faults?
change is good but never is easy, especially if the change is for the better.

but now my head hurts just thinking about the many changes i have to apply on myself and of course, managing work.

i know i should just chill. but i can't.
i have a dateline to complete my projects, have the technicians to at least respect me enough to listen to me, to come up with a system to make work more manageable, and change.
it's not that i'm unhappy, i'm completely happy! but i'm just wound up with work.

hope it'll be ok soon, once i habiskan projects 5 ketul ni, i nak chill lama-lama and i hope the next time i'm going to lead a project, i'll gain these people's respect. pastu i nak muhasabah diri.
haha!

a wise person once said to me,

'the test gets harder when the reward is better'.

hopefully this is my test, and hopefully i can overcome this phase in my life.

so a few days ago, i had a weird day. wait, scratch that. i had a weird week.

it wasn't so weird earlier this week. but tengah tengah tu.. astaghfirullahalazim..

on this one fine day, i kept dropping everything i hold. syndrome butter fingers yang melampau. dah budak mckk, jangan tiba2 perasan ingat i cite pasal band butterfingers tu ya. i know they rock, i love them too, but i'm talking about being clumsy.

i dropped my phone on numerous occasions. my phone ni agak la precious. bukan agak. memang precious gila la wei. so those times i dropped it, on hard floor, on carpeted floor, on tables, almost in the toilet (fiuhh!!) and on 90degrees elbows, rasa cam time stopped and the sound of the impact cracked my heart open.

but because it's precious, it's important and definitely not cheap, rasa sakit kot!

after work, i headed to midvalley kerana mau ketemu rakan-rakan.

it was raining heavily then, and on a slight corner, kereta depan kereta den punya brake lights dinyalakan, maka saya pun tekanlah brake.

pastu suddenly my car started swerving left and right and left and right!!!

woi!! i thought i was going to get into an accident!!!

it was so mighty scary, i cannot explain..

dah la i was driving my kembara!

so swerving left and right was really freaky because i don't want to topple over like an upturned turtle!

eventhough that sounds really cute, but it won't look cute if it was my car that's upturned.. alhamdulillah tak la.

alhamdulillah i managed to control my car. alhamdulillah i did not panic when my car swerved out of control.

alhamdulillah i did not cause any accidents as well.

good thing also, i got a gift from my friend!

i walked into my office that morning. and i saw my boss and colleague looking at me in a way that, aiyo.. how to describe ek? that mischievous look sort of thing, you know? but i buat dunno je la.

dia tanya saya, "apasal u itu macam? saya tada tau!"

i lagi la tak tau. i tanya la dia, apa pasal dia kan.

dia cakap "itu video u punya, kita sume sudah tengok!"

apa tak diorang tengok i semacam pagi tu kan. 

jangan cakap la. i memang tak mampu nak tengok bos lepas tu.

bukan merajuk. i was afraid he might not take me seriously. ye la. i'm supposed to be an engineer.. tak serious langsung bila dalam video kan. 

haihh..

so my advise to you young ones.

if you plan to make youtube videos, think about the consequences you might face in future. you think you can stomach your future employers to know and watch your videos? if you insist, make your profile not related to your real name sangat la.. so if they google you, they wont find your 'other life'. ecehhh! hahaha!

but it's up to u.

oh tertinggal pulak. haritu masa tengah jog on the treadmill, i tersadung. yes. i tripped.

and then jatuh atas that board monitor thingy. orang kiri kanan tengok (kot), maka saya terus off-kan treadmill tu, took my bottle and walked away as fast as i could. malu teramat!!

oh well.

despite all the pelik-ness of these few days, i do have a lot to be grateful about.

and one thing's for sure, i have people that cares for me and of course, i thank Allah SWT for the experiences. hopefully i'll learn my lessons, and continue on trying to be a better person.

so about the email~

i pernah had the task to filter resumes to help my boss in my old company.

and a few potential employee he immediately rejects because of the email address. if he finds it too long, too complicated and weird, dia tanak tengok pun the rest. coz well, usually we put our emails at the top kan.

it's first impression.

according to his philosophy, if this person who wants to be employed, can't even have a real email address, how would he know this person is matured enough to work with him?

well, that's his philosophy. whether i agree or not, dia dah boss kot. means dia lagi tau pasal kerja dari saya yang noob ni kan. then, who knows brape ramai lagi yang thinks like him kan?

so that's why, it's really important to have a real email address.

and i strongly recommend myemail because your email address will be based on your name on your MyKad! if you don't understand why, well it's because you have to register with your real name and IC and then your email will have to be authenticated by JPN. ha, amik tu. serious gila!

myemail ni pun actually very good for those yang dah ber-family, working professionals and those yang nak start business because its got unlimited inbox size, dia punya e-billing system is very systematic and safe because they have tracking features that will make sure you receive the bills, save the environment because you're not using papers kan and so much more!!

in conclusion, get one important thing right, which is your email address! and when you get on to the interview, then that's a different type of first impression!

story concert Suara Kami dah melalut ke laut. gomenasai! and all that dialogues, please don't take it seriously and i hope i didn't offend Yuna (and fans), Faizal Tahir (and fans), Dato' Sri Mohd Najib (and fans) and Datin Seri Rosmah (and fans) in this post! i made it all up and just hantam suka hati i je. muahahaha!

anyhoos, Suara Kami Concert was held on 17th September at Stadium Merdeka. although this post is quite basi, but nasib la. muahahahaa! saya selaku mix melayu cina & india (sila percaya), suka gak la the concert sebab masa concert tu, sume bangsa and agama, from performers to audience, had almost the same thought in mind. 

we just wanna chill =)

from the pictures, you boleh nampak la yang i tak duduk ngan crowd kat padang sebab i am too old for this stuff (sape tengok how i met your mother, sila sengih). hehe!!

so yeah~

kami ada suara.

dan kami chill.
