selama sebulan puasa tu, memang duk craving laksa johor & soto. alhamdulillah dapat dah dua dua. ihikkkk! =p

ni gambo raya ketiga kat rumah aunty. heee..

first & second day of raya, husband and i were at melaka with husband's family =)

i was so nervous before then, sebab.. aku ni bukannya senonoh sangat.. dah la dengan keboyotan kini, takut tebosey secara tidak sengaja.

tapi fuhh! alhamdulillah it was all good!

makanan best, family best, kampung best, semua best =D

by the way, this is out of topic (but then, it is a rather random post) agak agaknya, camane la raya masa kita jadi grandparents nanti.. this time, our grandparents masak cara old school. our time? maybe semua dah ada instant. instant rendang, instant laksa johor.. oh sedihnya! pastu kalau kita jadi grandparents kang, when our children & grandchildren takde, what do we do to fill our time?

husband said he'll probably still main game and i masih blogging. i said "yeah right". but then, who knows la kan? what do you think?

alhamdulillah my family & i dapat berholiday ke South Africa kapan hari =)

sape sape nak tau, Cape Town is seriously fun & beautiful place to visit! 

sape sape nak tau gak, my husband ni muka cam jepun.

kadang kadang tengok dia, teringat lagu I Can Give You Gatsby - Takuya Kimura.

comel. tapi dia tu nakal gak.

and he is the reason i laugh a lot =)

so anyway, he made fun about my baby bump when we're in South Africa a lot. keeps calling it 'Boncet'.

sebab before we flew there, the bump macam tak nampak sangat.

but for some reason, baby decided to grow extra fast and kicks like a kickboxer on training when we reached there! aneh betul baby ni. tapi abah dia pun pelik.

abah dia ya. mak dia blog je peliks.blogspot. 

and then, i'm sorry la i'm pregnant! so i shall sit and lie down like one! hmph!

but le husbeng suka betul gelakkan i, and make an annoying japanese face sambil point at my awesome baby bump. boleh imagine ke? 

he'd go "eeeeeeeeeee.. bonceeeeeeeett!"

pastu i akan cakap la "boncet ni baby tau." kurang asam.

oh by the way, i always say to him "kurang asam", and dia pulak say to me "kurang sambal".

paham tak cheeky dia camane?!!

kalau i boleh cite all the cheeky stuff he says and does.. eh takleh.. susah tu. terlampau banyak to remember. hahhaa! 

so pasal 'boncet' ni.

i said "kalau i bukan pregnant and you call me boncet, mesti i terasa"

he said "kalau you tak pregnant, memang i'll be more careful not to say anything about it! you ingat i ni bongok ke?"

and we both laughed teguling guling, ala ala ROFL you know. hahaha!!

i'm glad all those years of us growing up together taught him how to treat me. =)

girls, if you're looking for a husband, find someone that can cheer you up when you're down, who knows what to say and do when you're not.. you know.. in the right state of mind. ahakkk!

alhamdulillah tokmak turned 80 earlier this month!

awesome sungguh! bunting made by aunty rahi!

because tokmak turned 80 this year, my mom and her siblings planned a party for her at our house. it was themed Pink and Bling because tokmak being tokmak, loves pink and she's always wear her blings out. her biggest blings have always been her brooches. cute sangat!

my aunt from UK made a special appearance and surprised everyone! she arrived 2 days before the party, and tak bagitau sape2 pun! amboi aunty.. boleh jadi spy betul. haha!!

mama had this uncle to come and play music the whole time too.

bila uncle tu main lagu "pakai baju kancing la suasa" terus tokmak, my aunties and my uncles start dancing!!

even my tokwan!! abah and ayahcho kena la dance with her! hehehe! =p

tokwan dah la sakit kaki, but she forced herself up and started moving around dancing with the rest! 

she told all of us before, about how she used to dance with arwah tok. and seeing her dance, even if it was just jiggling from side to side, we were just so happy and touched by her efforts. comel je tokwan ni =')

and then the men took over the floor. hahahha!

oh and while the grown ups dancing and lepaking downstairs, the young ones kat atas main main.

so anyway, macam macam ada masa the celebration.

tokmak was touched and during her speech, we all got teary, and then the siblings lak bagi speech to tokmak, and again we got teary. not forgetting aunty nilo's suprice appearance that made everyone happy and amazed (coz she pulled it off successfully!!). and and... AH BANYAK LA!!

it was just special!!

hari tu i posted a pic of tokmak on instagram. ramai la pulak tanya camane she looked so young!

i asked her for her secret, and she said:

tokmak: eh, apa secret secret? aku buat macam bese jeee. semayang jangan tinggal, baca Quran, baca selawat banyak banyak kali, ha tu je la!!

mars: makan minum? pantang ke apa ke?

tokmak: makan je apa ko naak. bia sihat.

mars: takkan tu je?

tokmak: ish. ko be happy je. don' worry, be happy. haaa. kalo orang buat sakit ke apa, bio je. be happy je. jangan senang amek ati tau. tak suka, tengok benda lain. kalo tak tenang, selawat je. banyak ingat Allah.

ha tu dia. her secrets!

solat, read Quran, selawat banyak banyak, and don't worry, be happy! seems simple enough innit?

i think with all the ibadah she has been practicing, they've done good to her mental health. as for her physical health, we know it's because she busy herself with activities with her friends. she goes around with her hadrah group in muo, so she's not bored nor unfit.

and i think it's genetics too. ihik!

my parents pun 54 years old this year. alhamdulillah they're in good health, physically and mentally! 

so as a conclusion, jaga lah diri, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually so that in sha Allah we'll be able to live long enough to bring benefit to others too. in sha Allah =)

Pulau Perhentian! woohoo!

my friends and i agreed that

"whatever happened in Perhentian, stays in Perhentian"

my friends and i went to perhentian island over a weekend. can you believe it.. we actually drove the whole way, to and fro!! we didn't expect the drive to take us about THE WHOLE DAY!

sebab jam, sempat sesat, and multiple bladders yang cannot synchronise. sikit sikit, stop. hahaha!

girls.. motip sangat!

i was the first driver of one of the cars, and i drove for solid 8 hours. memang terasa gangsta gila tau. haha! nasib i had really good company! my girls kept me awake and we just had fun talking and laughing in the car =) and they took turns sleeping too. sorang dah habis drool, sorang lagi sambung. so ada drooling beregu la. teamwork FTW!

and that's why peeps, it's really really important to have good company to go with you on a holiday! #tips

1. bring waterproof bags to put your expensive gadgets. once jatuh dalam air, considered padan muka. 

2. don't bring big bags. susah mau carry dalam sand. terbenam dalam sand juga ada, maka bermuscle la anda nanti. eh, macam bagus lak kan... ok, bring big bags to have more clothes (in case) while building up muscles. myahahahaha! =p

i always wanted to know what it feels like to wear jubah while strolling at the beach. it didn't feel any different than wearing a dress, to be honest. tapi saje jeeeeeeee.

by the way, we stayed at a chalet, which i won't say here sebab nanti uolls will marah i. lebih baik uolls cari sendiri and puas hati sendiri. coz ours, it was quite last minute, see. so...... yeah. what can you expect from a last minute arrangement? right. =)

but that's how we roll! hahaha!

we had awesome fun though! alhamdulillah we got to see loads of beautiful creatures and amazing views, and alhamdulillah we arrived home safely. =)

actually, this was the first time i went to the beach as a hijaber. since 2010!

gangsta gila. 

so it was kind of a struggle for me. to find the right clothes, the right shawls, etc.

the struggle to keep the shawl on when swimming, the struggle to make the clothes not fit to the body the minute i got out of the water, and at one point, i actually had the urge to take off my shawl! coz it was too much of a hassle sampai i rasa nak give up. tapi it was momentous, alhamdulillah! biasalah perempuan. bila emo tu, iman pun boleh goyah. pfft! geram with myself.

at least from this experience, i think i know how to prepare for a beach vacation. maybe should make separate post for that kalau ada orang nak. ahak!

i wish we could stay longer in perhentian.. the place is BEAUTIFUUUUULLLLLL!!!

alas, work called, reality called, mom called, everything called from the besut jeti. kita pun kena la menjawab call mereka dan terus pulang ke pangkalan damansara..

i will see you again, perhentian!

Saving tips!

Assalamualaikum!

*WARNING! Really long post but hopefully beneficial to those who wants to travel.

i love traveling and i think that's sort of obvious now. i siap buat tab kat tepi blog for all my travel rendezvous. ngah ngah ngah!!

the thing that i love about traveling is that i get to see different cultures, that feeling of amazement when i see how they are different from us, that awe when i see how Allah's creations, how different their sunrises and sunsets, how their timing are different, oh! the differences are what i love seeing and experiencing. =D

so in order to travel, i have to save up, see.

all of my eurotrips are all sponsored by myself. my parents only chip in by giving their euros/pounds/dollars yang extra from their old trips. 

here are my saving tips! Bismillah..

1. open up an extra account! *editted*

i started saving since i was a little girl, approximately 10 years old when i really really started saving. my parents had an account open for me, and every year, duit raya yang dapat i akan put half of my collection in my ASB. for halal savings, you can keep your money is Public Mutual, Tabung haji, CIMB Islamic, etc etc. let your money stay there, jangan gatal nak kuarkan until and unless you really need it.

2. discipline!

when i studied in matrix and utp, alhamdulillah my parents didn't have to fork out much money. in matrix we were given a sum of money for every semester, and when in utp, i was a scholar so i received monthly allowance from petronas. thank you petronas and government =') the amount of money takdelah banyak. it's just enough for paying my bills, petrol, food and stuff and alhamdulillah, i manage to save up. 

i break down my allowance/gaji into 3 parts: Responsibilities, Savings, Miscellaneous.

Responsibilities are my bills, rent, car maintenance, petrol, food, zakat, etc. these are where my money will go as soon as i receive my gaji/allowance. 

Savings are savings for travel and future family. it's best if you have a different account to transfer into when you receive your gaji or allowance. i have more than 1 bank account, fyi. ngah ngah!

Miscellaneous are entertainments, shoppings, unnecessary stuff that we just want and don't need. hehe!

now gaji/allowance being 100%, take 50% out for Responsibilities, take 30% out for Savings and the rest 20% for Miscellaneous. this is my percentage. you can change the percentage up to your affordibility =)

your Savings share must be the first to go. transfer it into a different account. ups to you. but this must be kept hidden from your gatal-spending-mood-swings. if you're putting it into a different account, don't make a debit card for it. just atm would be fine.

if your 50% share of responsibilities exceeded it's budget, padan muka. sape suruh tak jaga budget? ahahaha! kidding la. we all have that time kan. when that happens, take the extra money from the Miscellaneous share. whatever it is, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR SAVINGS!

if you spend less than 50% of your Responsibilities share, then good for you!! you can use that up to reward yourself for your tiring month, or take your family out for a treat or put it into savings, it's up to you. it's best though that you just don't spend it too much so that you have more stock for the next month.

and all this requires DISCIPLINE! you can do it bebehs!

3. plan your trip early!

if you're aiming to go travel overseas, plan where you want to go. once you know where, check out their currency and try google for some travel stories online. i do this everytime coz i wanna know what it's like there. mahal ke tak, hotel senang cari ke tak, what kind of transport is cheapest and most convenient, food camane etc etc. every country is different, so google it out. jangan malas please.

my eurotrip costs almost RM10k (take note that i went to 3 cities in different countries). i saved every month and i did extra jobs such as tutoring, promoting via blog, and modelling. malu ok nak mengaku but yeah. sorry la kalau aku macam bajet la kan. aku buat sume tu sebab nak travel beb. hahhaha!

and this RM10k covers my flight tickets, hotels, transportation, domestic flights, tours, food, and shopping. itu pun ada extra about almost RM3k, which is an achievement for me okayh! i bought loads of stuff but still manage to have extras. and it's all because i planned early.

maybe to some "wah?!? bapak ah kau spend RM10k utk jalan jalan?! baik guna duit tu untuk feed orang orang miskin!"

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted.

it was after my first eurotrip with my best friends that i finally had pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and just don on the hijab. hehehee =)

the thoughts i have after seeing Allah's beauty.. ah itu different story la. hehe!

anyway, planning your trip early means you have to book your hotels early and try to ask for student price or seasonal discounts. some places, it's cheaper to take their domestic flights to cross countries, but some, it's cheaper to go by train. again, google about it. this part here, you need a credit card. heee..

it will be a great advantage if you have friends or relatives wherever you're heading. saves a lot of cost. so get in touch with your friends and family!!

*also, bring some instant food too like maggi, kurma, sambal, serunding, etc etc so that you can save money from food expenses. =)

4. get a good company!

choose your travel buddy wisely. you want to have a good time experiencing stuff, so better have your friends or family who has the same objectives as you do =)

5. jangan malas!!

this is your trip, so save up, discipline yourself, do your research, be careful and have fun!

so this is as brief as i can get, and i hope i didn't bore anyone to sleep.

Turkish Delight

after performing umrah, and staying about 4 days in Madinah, 4 days in Makkah, we went to Istanbul, Turkey.

what's awesome about this place is that it's a muslim country!

masa kat sana.. macam jakun sekejap coz from the moment we stepped into the city, everywhere we went we were greeted with "assalamualaikum!" by mat-salleh-looking people.

imagine, people with coloured eyes, not the usual brown/black as we asians have, and hair yang macam blonde-ish, brownish, bukan macam asian yang typical black and kalau ye pun, dyed hair... and muslim.

tak ke cool?!!

senang gila!! everything there is halal, beautiful mosques everywhere and people are friendly!

it's like KL version mat salleh.

hahaha!!

my body pun culture shock kat sana. it was extremely cold! on the day of our arrival, it snowed!!

i was wearing this ThePoplook Henley Tunic top and had a sweater on, and guess la what happened. i was freezing my pants off!! my malaysian skin could not cope with winter it seems. hahaha!! so i caught flu when i was there. macam pelik je. catching cold when it's cold. why cannot catch heat when cold? apa ini maria shmaria? lu bukan budak medic maka tanya lah pakar nanti ya kenapa kita catch cold when it's cold. brehueuehheueee =p

yup, it was that cold. but my family coped better than i did. =)

so first day takde buat pape sangat. though we did go to Grand Bazaar that day, and i strongly recommend people to not shop so much there. it's nice to see but in terms of shopping, i think they mark up a lot because the grand bazaar is a tourist attraction. for example the pashminas, it's like 10 turkish lira there, about RM20. and material-wise, sama je. lebih baik beli sini je kot.. if you want to buy souvenirs, buy outside grand bazaar. can get cheaper price =)

Istanbul, Masyallah, cantik betul the city. it's HUGEEEE!! and it's situated on the border of asia and europe! that's why diorang mat salleh tapi ada asian-ness!

here's me trying to get used to the chilled weather. was wearing ThePoplook Bell Sleeve blouse, my one and only jeans yang fit me nicely and my safety boots. haha! tak la. kasut gangsta i call it. =p

i thought i was ok on the second day, tapi tak jugak rupanya. still had to wear jacket. 

behind my pucat face is the awesome Blue Mosque!

it is one of the most beautiful masjid's i've ever been in. i wish i took more pics of the insides.. but masa ni my fingers were frozen. had to ask my bros to help me with the pics. heee =) it's my first time seeing a masjid opened for tourists. i think non-muslims yang visit pun cannot deny, it is beautiful, unique, bright and awesome! hehe!

this was at Topkapi Palace. again, couldn't take pics because my fingers malfunctioned. haha!

the best part about this place is this!! inside the palace museum, ada this place where we saw relics of Nabi Muhammad SAW and his sahabat! ada swords, ada hair from his beard, ada Kaabah's lock, Hajar aswad zaman dulu, and much more!! we couldn't take pictures in it.. and the security was kinda tight, so telan image dalam otak je. oh well. it was a blessing dapat tengok all those sutff. =D

we went to loads of places after visiting this palace, but sadly.. the cold got the better of me.. we got to see medusa's stone heads in an underground "city" called Basilica Cistern. i'm not an artsy person, so i couldn't care less about the significance of the heads. haha! =p

ada la banyak lagi tempat we visited. and the best part of it all, we walked throughout!! memang healthy to the max la the locals. kitorang malaysians ni kalau 1km pun nak drive je. the turks, they just walk. terror tul. but then, if our weather is like theirs, maybe we wouldn't mind walking around.. 

on the third day, we went to spice bazaar where we bought some tea, turkish delights yang yum! and mama bought some rare spices. 

this was supposed to be a family picture but ada orang enterframe! hahahhaa! kurang asam betul!

after the spice bazaar, we went on a boat trip where we saw the whole city, both from european side and asian side. from there, we actually saw the mixture in terms of architecture influences. istanbul is really really beautiful!

as for me, i was freezing like crazy tapi muka tetap control. haha! this is my favourite safiyyah shawl xl from TudungPeople!

this is a place on the asian side of istanbul where we saw the panoramic view of the cities. and this jumping shot of Ike, is my kind of art. hahaha!! =p i je yang pandai tangkap gambar lompat! my jumping pics sume fail. geram tul. so tak dapat jumping shot, tangkap biasa2 je la.

on the last day, we just went around shopping. actually, more on window shopping. to be quite frank, malaysia is way cheaper. we didn't buy much there but we had to look at what their market's like. i prefer malaysia's stuff. hahaha!

now, this is a bazaar i'd recommend people to go! cheap and cute stuff they sell. they don't have la plates or whatever kitchen stuff mothers would wanna buy, but for those yang nak beli souvenir yang light and easy, this. is. good. enough! =D
it's at this place called Ortakoy. we found the place by chance actually. abah wanted to go to Hard Rock Cafe and mama apparently found an address in the internet. so the driver took us to this place, only to find that there were no hard rock cafes in istanbul. maluuu! hahaha! nasib la jugak, or else we wouldnt know this place. =)

after eating, walking around and shopping, we went to have dinner at this place called Konak Cafe near Galata Towers. 

it's a cafe on a rooftop, and this is the shot of the view from up there. i could've taken more, but i was cold, and i couldn't feel my fingers. hahaha! ini je la yang mampu. =p the food was good too! strongly recommended!

it was a lovely way to end our short vacay sana. =)

we flew back to malaysia the next day, where heat awaits. i was literally holding back tears of joy when the plane touched down on malaysian ground. i missed the heat! hahahahaha! balik keluar airport, ha amek kau. humid air slapped our dry faces, terus jadi moisturised. (kat istanbul muka kering). ok exaggerate aje =p

so, Istanbul is definitely a beautiful city and to date, i think it's the most beautiful city i've been to!

there're more places that we have not explored and i'm sure i'll go there again!
and if i ever go there again, i'll go when it's not cold! woooottttt!! =p
