Getaway

Assalamualaikum~


It was a few days before chinese new year's holiday when mom, my aunt, nadrah and i went to Terengganu for a bit of a getaway.

My mom's got a friend who owns a B&B (bed and breakfast) inn at Kijal called Kijalena.
It has been so long since i've been to the beach, so i was so happy that my mom asked me if i wanted to join. OF COURSE MA, YES! AKU NAK TENANGKAN MATA SIKIT NI HA!
masa tu i was macam serabut sikit, sebab...

and i thought, it could be a good learning experience for nadrah. hehee =)

of course, a few hours of being in the car was boring for nadrah and the car seat was just crampin' her style. haha!

alhamdulillah we reached our destination and when i laid eyes on the view from the B&B, SUBAHANALLAH!

ok the picture wasn't doing the view any justice, and that fishing pole, well. perhiasan. haha!

seriously, it was so refreshing!

the air was calm, the water was beautiful - i could see the blue part and the green part, and it was in a kampung area, so it wasn't busy at all. it was just us and nature. =')

the moment we stepped out of the car, nadrah saw the swimming pool and immediately she wanted to swim.

she kept looking at the pool, and said "cim, cim" which means, swim, swim. -_-'

she got what she wanted. we went swimming.

the best thing about this B&B, is that the whole household is so unique. i pun tak reti nak explain. but the pool area, memang banyak tempat lepak. so while nadrah and i were swimming, my mom, aunty shikin (my aunt) and aunty nina (the owner of Kijalena) were chilling by the poolside. 

in case y'alls were wondering, this is where we stayed. this is the chalet, 3 rooms, each has its own toilet, there's wifi too. so donch worri. =)

the owners live in a house opposite of the chalet (in the same compound of course) with their family. they're all super nice!

so yeah! nice kan? =D

after swimming, nadrah and i went exploring.

oh ya, nadrah got a toy horse from aunty nina. because there was an actual horse in their compound.

jeng jengggg!

his name was something like cavalli? roberto cavalli? eh tu nama kain.

something like that la. hehe!

it's not their horse, but they're looking after it for a friend. 

so the orang kampung suka betul tengok the horse. they would stop their motorcycles and watch the horse eat or whatever secara berjemaah. hehe!

i would love to chill with the horse, but nadrah was between scared and amazed at it. she's like that with everything actually. wahaha!

she extends her hand to touch it, and the second i put her close enough to it, she withdraws her hand and lean back. takut.

ceit. there was a monkey too, and a guard dog (we didn't go near it. takut. haha!)

so now she knows what "hosh" and "angki" looks like in real life. good girl! 

then we went to the beach, and nadrah was so squirmish that i got so uncomfortable. her squirms made my tudung go everywhere. i was so worried my tudung would flip and fly or something. haha!

good thing there was a log, and we sat there. so nadrah can see the sand but they're not in contact. 

the sand was "geyi" to her! (geyi = geli)

hahahaa!

good thing she didn't want to "cim" in the sea. gila apa?!

baby, tak ponek lagi ke?

ummi dah pancit gilos ok...

memandangkan it's a B&B inn, not a hotel, so we had to look for dinner ourselves. not to worry! they have a pasar malam on monday nights, and mesra mall is just about 15minutes drive. it's all good!

that night was a monday night, and we all enjoyed eating our nasi kerabu and keropok lekor yang sedap gilos and tak berminyak. rindu pulak!

the next day, we went to kuala terengganu, which was seriously far than i thought, and got ourselves some keropok, keropok lekor and.. budu and all sorts la! we bought them all at the pasar payung.

after shopping, we went to the masjid terapung and that's where nadrah saw fishies chasing after food.

the fishes we're used to seeing are the ones in aquariam. so, no kejar-kejar la.

she got so excited everytime the fishes goes after the food she threw in.

kept repeating "pish, pish, pish, pish" sambil bagi ikan makan, sambil tengok my face, sambil tengok my mom's face. hahaha!

when we got back to Kijalena, of course nadrah wanted to swim.

but not after we chill at the beach jap ye sayang!

ololoooo~ so gadis melayu terakhir! hehehee!

tokmom, stopped taking pictures and get me a drink! - said nadrah.

we went swimming shortly after (since nadrah insisted), but we swam for like, less than 30minutes i think? 15 minutes like that coz nadrah got tired and she wanted the keropok the aunties were eating at the pool side.

that night, we went to mesra mall for dinner =)

mesra mall tu ok la gak, banyak kids. nadrah loves seeing kids so she was happy.

there was this girl around her age, and she was so sweet! kissing nadrah and smiling a lot. nadrah even played with a kakak who wasn't even playing with her! hahahaha! kelakar tengok!

and then there was this exercise machines display at the concourse, and the kids just took over the place. they were playing with the shake-lemak thingy and the treadmill. 

reminds me of my childhood. hehe!

we headed for home the next day after breakfast. 

my mom actually intended for me to get the writer's block out of me, but i got so tired coz nadrah.. was being like any other toddler yang 'nak kenal dunia'. 

i wasn't inspired to write after the trip, but i was inspired by the beauty of the sea. 

i felt so at peace when i look at the beach. 

all of my senses were remembering everything.

i've been holding on to too much of metal that i almost forgot what sand felt like. my eyes were used to looking at screens - tv screen, laptop, phone - that i almost forgot the colours of the sea water. my ears were so used to hearing noise, that i forgot what calm sounds like.

it was amazing.

i felt truly blessed that Allah allowed me to come here. it was a wake up call! 

i thought, Allah's creation is this beautiful, then Allah must be..Wow. the creation is nothing like the Creator, right?

subhanallah. subhanallah. glorified is Allah. glorified is Allah. =')

the guessing game

assalamualaikum!

at this stage of pregnancy, people have been asking me about the gender of the baby.
been to the doctor last month.
due to the paranormal activity of the baby, we both thought it's safer to just not confirm anything yet.

and i tell ya, ramai gila orang yang bagi assumption on the gender.
ada kata laki, ada kata pompuan.

some said coz of the way i am (malas nak melawa, anti social, suka makan benda manis) it must be a boy!
then i met some that said coz of the way i am (malas nak melawa, anti social, suka makan benda manis) it must be a girl!
"oh perut besar ke tepi. it's a girl"
"oh perut tak nampak. it's a boy"
macam macam!!

it's so confusing at first, because mostly yang i take seriously are women who has kids already, but now i just enjoy hearing them guess the gender.

dah jadi game dah! 'Guess the Baby's Gender'! winner will get bragging rights and allowed to say "dah agak dah!" sampai baby dah beso. haha!

everyone's pregnancy is different.
i have friends and family who were pregnant, and their symptoms of having a girl or boy aren't the same!

example - my cousin was so into sweet stuff when she was pregnant, she puts extra effort when dressing up, thought she's carrying a boy, bila keluar je, baby girl.

i have a friend yang gila selekeh masa pregnant, don't wanna see anyone and even when she had to, she'll only 'tunjuk muka' and leave asap. she gave birth to a baby girl.

paling best is, ada sorang tu bila dah scan found that the baby's a girl, but bila keluar je, it's a boy!

so i say, biar la dia nak laki ke pompuan. Allah lagi tau which is best for us all. heee..

although...
the other day husbeyh said he hopes the baby is a boy.
i replied "hey! jangan doa la!!"
to which he replied "biar lah! baby i gak!"
and i said "bagi la i dapat apa i nak. asyik you je yang dapat apa you nak..."

bet you can guess what i want. bueheheheheheee =p

but then again, in all seriousness, whatever gender baby is, he or she is still a blessing from Allah Maha Pemurah, and we love him or her a lot.
and thus, for now, husbeyh & i are gonna enjoy the Guess the Baby's Gender game. ihik!

on travel perspective

oh history.

throughout school years, every Sejarah class, memang time terbaik untuk tersungguk macam bola tennis kena pukui; ke kiri, ke kanan, ke belakang, ke depan, berpusing pusing, bergaya sungguh kepala cik puan ni bila tersungguk. on good days, i'd have a drool on the side of my face.

bukan sengaja tapi otak macam dah setting sendiri.

Sejarah = nap time

ugh.. anyway, by form 4, i knew i can't have any career Sejarah-based like lawyer ke, or... historian ke. so i buang jauh jauh itu ambition and till today, still have that setting in my brain.

husband is completely different.
he can stomach hours of history!!
crazy dude! ok takde la crazy sangat, but i memang senang impressed liddat. heheee..

so we were talking about traveling the other day, about the things we like about it.
he said he likes to know the history of the place, the history of culture, history, history, history.
i said i like to see how the sunset looks like in a different country, how the sea smells like, how the trees, birds, cats, clouds all look like, what the locals do and what's 'normal' to them, things like that.

and then he started laughing coz ye la, he thought when i said i like traveling, it's because i want to know about the culture or whatever things he likes to do kan.

and because when we went to Bali (first ever trip overseas together), he actually enjoyed watching the Kechak dance and Barong dance, and he thought i did too! which i did. for the first couple of minutes. *grins toothily*

so pastilah he asked me, "you tahu tak dance tu pasal apa?"

i said "which dance?"

"Barong dance. tu pasal apa?"

after a few seconds of squinting, and recalling the dance, i answered, "eleh. pasal gamelan."

maafkan daku oh sayang, 

ku tahu mereka di depan, 

sedang berdansa & bergoyang, 

tapi gue, 

totap suka tengok si gamelan,

sebab diorang berkemban,

dan cute.

rasa cam sekejap je masa berlalu.
it's already april!
and today is my big brother's birthday, yayyy!
alhamdulillah abang saya yang second tu dah 27 years old =)

my bros are awesome.

ok so, ni compilation of cerita cerita minggu saya!

1. haritu i was watching the movie Abduction on tv with my parents. kitorang takde la tengok khusyuk sangat pun. just watch sambil cakap and i tengok my mom main that candy crush game (which she is so obsessed with now). pastu tiba satu scene where the Jacob dude guy (i don't know his name) fought with this CIA agent in the train.

we all watched with so much emotion, coz i was like "lari! lari! ha pusing, tumbuk!" and my mom pun sama naik.
at one point the CIA agent tu dah knocked out and the Jacob dude tengah macam fikir kot nak buat apa ngan mamat tu.
my mom got so emo, she said "ha amik pistol! tembak otet dia!"

BAHAHAHAHHHAHHAHAHAH!!!

"hurt him where it hurts most!" she said!!

hahahhahahaha!!! dah lamaaaaaa gila tak dengar orang panggil benda tu ot*t!!!

2. i was talking with le hubby about future family and stuff. like our kid's names, what kind of activities we want them to choose from, stuff like that.
it was fun and fine =)

then i said i nak the kids call me umi.
hubs said he wants to be called Vader.

like Darth Vader.

coz vader means father.

and i asked "vat are you serious?"

he said yeah, coz he wants to have that scene when he says to the child "I AM YOUR FATHER" and the child screams back "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" sambil peluk tiang.

memang good for me la kot. our kids first words will never be calling their dad. baby mana boleh cakap vader? MUAHHAHAAHHAHAHA!!

i am guessing this will be his profile picture kat whatsapp and caller pic for the kids. hehe!!

3. haritu my family and i went out for dinner together. so bila balik tu, we saw a car outside of our gate. punya la kita "eh sape ni?", "kawan Ike ke?", "apasal dia dok depan gate? gi la tepi dulu kalau ye pun!".
then my bro bukak gate. and the car masuk!!
masuk rumah kita and park kat depan rumah.
amboiiii!

abang pun kata "he eh! suka hati je!"

kita pun masuk la, dan park di sebelah kereta tersebut.
abang (dia yang drive) turunkan tingkap, agaknya nak sound la.
pastu tengok tengok yang keluar kereta tu are orang orang tua.

OUR UNCLE AND AUNTY RUPANYAAAA!

they came over to our car and adik (yang duduk sebelah abang) said "he (my abang) was just asking who you are."

i ngan hubby tahan gelak kat belakang. malu abang weolls tu!

hehehehehe!!

4. last but not least, over the weekend, my hubby and i were obsessed with this video coz its SO FUNNY!!

this was long time ago, before i got married (sekarang nak describe time, wedding is the penentu. before getting married means long time ago, after getting married means baru baru ni. aneh kau maria.) i participated in this client counseling session for law students in UIA.

it's really weird for me to be part of this.

firstly, saya engineer ketika itu. secondly, saya tak tau kebende la client counseling tu. thirdly, saya pemalas nak tukar baju lepas keje. fourthly, saya bukan lawyer.

fifthly, saya maria.

motip.

anyways, it was kinda coincidental. i was supposed to have a class that day lepas keje. so mula mula memang nak tolak la the invitation. until my lecturer said the class was cancelled. so apa lagi. 

cakap "i onz!" je la =p

then masa kat sana, i agak blur blur la sebab tak tau apa nak buat, and part of me macam penat from work and stuff so jadi takleh nak digest sangat info2 the committees bagi.

kesian prof mars ni.

hahahaa!!

but it was so fun! first time i dapat belakon jadi mak datin over as a client to two competing teams!

i think this was the part where the dude kneeling, the acting husband, pleading to have me back. oh, i as the datin mintak bercerai kot. and nak all harta back.

oh and the custody of the children.

and i think i said something like "mestilah i nak the children! syurga diorang under my tapak kaki you know!"

kahahahahakahakahahaa!!

i haven't acted for so long.

last i remembered was in uni.

coincidentally, asfirdaus, masa tu yang tak pernah nak pergi tengok theater kat uni, went with his roomate. just because.

and that was the first time he saw me. 

and kids, that was how i met your mother. the end.

memandangkan tomorrow is Maulidur Rasul, i thought i'd be nice to share this with everyone =)

it is a lovely song, one among many songs reminding us of Nabi Muhammad SAW =')

dengan ini, i would also like to share the significance of Syafaat Nabi (SAW).

syafaat means advantages granted by Allah SWT to Nabi Muhammad SAW and other prophets on kiamat/Judgement Day.

*i'm not an expert on this yet, so i just share whatever i've learnt so far. syafaat ni is a huge topic..*

one of the simplest and suitable selawat for any time is 

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

"Ya Tuhan kami, selawatkanlah ke atas Nabi Muhammad dan ke atas keluarganya."

tahiyyat is also selawat for Nabi Muhammad SAW.

there are other types of selawat too, tapi i tak include la sebab i belum finish study the meanings and bila the best to use them =B if you know, please do share!! =D

so depending on each individual's understanding, best to practice it coz syafaat Nabi Muhammad SAW is worth it. the best times to berselawat are:

1. bila dengar orang sebut nama Nabi Muhammad SAW

2. lepas berwudhu' 

3. bila masuk/keluar masjid

4. bila bila mengingatinya

the significance of selawat for Nabi and syafaat, is as mentioned on its meaning:

"advantages granted by Allah SWT to Nabi Muhammad SAW and other prophets on kiamat/Judgement Day"

and the biggest advantage is that it can be our "fast ticket" to Syurga masa di Padang Mahsyar nanti. 

imagine bila cari kerja. because kita kenal orang dalam, we got "recommended" and get to skip the whole interviewing session, best kan? i mean, yeah sekarang kita fikir it's unfair for those who worked hard for it. but in the Hereafter, kita dapat "recommendation" by Nabi Muhammad SAW himself due to our efforts of remembering him, and skip the whole line to Syurga, it's great kan! this is just an example. i can never imagine what it's going to really be like, tapi lebih baik kita prepare ourselves dari tak prepare langsung.

dunia ni pun untuk preparation je kan. =)

wallahu'alam.

achievements di dunia won't matter much if it's not synced with achievements in the Hereafter.. that's why i believe that it's great for us all to want to be successful while we're alive, but it's even better to want to be successfully enter Syurga Firdaus bila dah meninggal dunia as well =')

so that's all yang i boleh share! 

i know my ilmu in this matter is not so big (yet) and maybe terlalu awal i nak share, tapi mana tau. ada juga manfaatnya 

=)

with this, i encourage myself (boleh kan? =p) and everyone who reads this to tambahkan ibadah dengan berselawat kepada Nabi SAW sebanyak mungkin, on top of all other ibadah we have been doing! 

in sha Allah with all of our efforts, kita dapat keredhaan-Nya, which is the main objective!

alhamdulillah tokmak turned 80 earlier this month!

because tokmak turned 80 this year, my mom and her siblings planned a party for her at our house. it was themed Pink and Bling because tokmak being tokmak, loves pink and she's always wear her blings out. her biggest blings have always been her brooches. cute sangat!

it was a real fun celebration that day =)

my aunt from UK made a special appearance and surprised everyone! she arrived 2 days before the party, and tak bagitau sape2 pun! amboi aunty.. boleh jadi spy betul. haha!!

mama had this uncle to come and play music the whole time too.

bila uncle tu main lagu "pakai baju kancing la suasa" terus tokmak, my aunties and my uncles start dancing!!

hehehe!!

even my tokwan!! abah and ayahcho kena la dance with her! hehehe! =p

tokwan dah la sakit kaki, but she forced herself up and started moving around dancing with the rest! 

she told all of us before, about how she used to dance with arwah tok. and seeing her dance, even if it was just jiggling from side to side, we were just so happy and touched by her efforts. comel je tokwan ni =')

and then the men took over the floor. hahahha!

oh and while the grown ups dancing and lepaking downstairs, the young ones kat atas main main.

main main dengan our treadmill. hahahaha!

so anyway, macam macam ada masa the celebration.

tokmak was touched and during her speech, we all got teary, and then the siblings lak bagi speech to tokmak, and again we got teary. not forgetting aunty nilo's suprice appearance that made everyone happy and amazed (coz she pulled it off successfully!!). and and... AH BANYAK LA!!

it was just special!!

hari tu i posted a pic of tokmak on instagram. ramai la pulak tanya camane she looked so young!

i asked her for her secret, and she said:

tokmak: eh, apa secret secret? aku buat macam bese jeee. semayang jangan tinggal, baca Quran, baca selawat banyak banyak kali, ha tu je la!!

mars: makan minum? pantang ke apa ke?

tokmak: makan je apa ko naak. bia sihat.

mars: takkan tu je?

tokmak: ish. ko be happy je. don' worry, be happy. haaa. kalo orang buat sakit ke apa, bio je. be happy je. jangan senang amek ati tau. tak suka, tengok benda lain. kalo tak tenang, selawat je. banyak ingat Allah.

ha tu dia. her secrets!

solat, read Quran, selawat banyak banyak, and don't worry, be happy! seems simple enough innit?

i think with all the ibadah she has been practicing, they've done good to her mental health. as for her physical health, we know it's because she busy herself with activities with her friends. she goes around with her hadrah group in muo, so she's not bored nor unfit.

and i think it's genetics too. ihik!

my parents pun 54 years old this year. alhamdulillah they're in good health, physically and mentally! 

so as a conclusion, jaga lah diri, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually so that in sha Allah we'll be able to live long enough to bring benefit to others too. in sha Allah =)

what happened in the morning

of 15th december 2012.

kalau tengok from this picture, can see how dark red the inai on my fingers kan.

well, malam tu ada orang datang meng-inai-kan myself and some of my family members.

adat inai ni memang la orang kata bukan islamic ke apa.

but to me, i bukan nak follow any other cultural traditions ke apa, i only thought of its symbolism.

my husband muka agak la babyface, and myself, i look like i'm 16 years old.

(kalau ada orang rasa nak termuntah dengan statement iolls, sila muntah jauh jauh ya. nanti busuk bilik, iolls takmo tanggung. wahhaha =p)

ok anyway, because i knew we look kinda young, the inai (i feel) will avoid fitnah. sebab orang nampak inai kat jari, terus fikir dah kahwin. 

some more my husband and i tak pegang tangan (since i dalam proses penghijrahan), so when we can hold each other's hands after marriage, i memang pegang la kan. saje menggedik =p

and because we're holding hands, i memang rasa a bit worried if people think we're just couples ke apa.

again, back to how young we look.

i pun takde la kerawang kerawang mende tu sangat. because like i said, i just want people to know i'm married, bukan nak tunjuk artistic ke ape ke. (sebab i jakun kahwin ok? bila tak jakun, and if the inai dah hilang by then, then biar lah. if i want to, i can top up again the inai and pretend im a newlywed. no hal la. ihik!)

i honestly don't want muslim youngsters to think it's ok to hold hands bila couple couple.

if a guy can control himself from touching a girl, and a girl can control herself from menggedik with a guy, they're on the right track, in sha Allah =)

but if dah pegang dah pun, it's not too late to stop. Allah Maha Pengampun dan Maha Mengetahui, in sha Allah apa yang diniatkan di dalam hati, Dia redhai. =)

anyway, the inai!!

the inai the kakak did for me was from a bottle. i pun tak tau la apa brand ke apa ke. my mom yang set it up for me. 

yang kelakar nya, pagi tu kan masa amik wudu for solat subuh, the inai's colour ran jugak.

i didn't notice it until dah morning.

what happened was, i saw myself in the mirror looking rather brown. i actually wondered if this was what they all said as "seri pengantin". aneh sungguh, my seri made me look browner. 

what's weirder was brown tu bertompok tompok!

it was concentrated at the nose area, and uneven lak tu!

i gi toilet lepas tu, and washed my hands, and only then that i realised it was the inai yang menompokkan mukaku!!

tergelak iolls masa tu.

how i thought it was seri pengantin tu yang takleh blah!!

i told my mom about it and we had a laugh!

and i told Faressa, my cousin and my makeup artist, so that she can make me look normal. ahakkk!!

alhamdulillah, i looked super normal, a bit tanned, but oh well. at least tak nampak tompok tompok brown on my face. 

GHAHAHA!

so siapa2 nak berinai, just make sure it's not the kind that will run down. or just be careful.

it was shot few weeks ago, it took about half-a-day (which was quite surprising. i thought it would've been longer) and it was fun!!

i asked long time ago about videographers kat twitter, and i surveyed a lot of videos.

many responded to my tweet to get CST Breed as my videographers.

and yeah, now officially, they will be documenting my nikah & bersanding sessions!!

zaman dulu dan zaman kini

because of my blog's unfortunate incident of losing all of it's (my) pictures, i actually took the liberty to re-upload some of them back. 

those yang on the sidebar la mainly. senang sikit ikut categories. 

anyhoots, i was looking through my old pics, and i reminisced those days when i was in university =)

in university, my girlfriends and i did loads of things together, and how i wish i could share the crazy fun things we've done in my blog, but we were younger those days.. and we didn't cover ourselves well. so all the memories are in our minds and only be revisited when we meet again, when we whatsapp each other about it, or when we look back at our old pictures..

and it's all good =')

and i had just as much good memories with my girlfriends as i had with him, my future husband =)

we met in our third year, and got on till today!

what interests me most now is how different he looks everytime!!

he's like a.. like a.. chameleon? tapi dia change ikut suka hati dia, bukan ikut background. hahaha!!

2012

he sent us of to Umrah earlier this year =') short hair dah. 

mata makin sepet. eh ye ke? tak tak tak.. eyebags je makin tebal akibat rajin bekerja =)

and this one, very recent. =)

all the time, short hair dah skang. no more long hair. and always wearing smart casual clothes. jarang gila tengok dia pakai shirt biasa and slippers.

he's changed physically a lot.

i still look the same. hehe!

but we've changed a lot since we first went out together. characteristically, i mean.

he said, from the time he fell in love with me, he wanted to marry me.

me?

of course i wanted to marry him too.

and alhamdulillah,

we honoured our promise to each other (about being married to each other of course) and with Allah's permission, tak lama lagi dah kita akan di ijab qabul kan.

=)

so adik adik sekalian, kalau nak kahwin, jangan lah kerana gatal, nak tangkap gambo sweet sweet bagai.

nak kahwin kerana it's right di sisi agama demi Allah swt because once married, it's all about responsibilities.

may Allah swt tetapkan jodoh yang terbaik untuk anda semua =)
